I went to the First Event conference yesterday and will be leaving shortly to attend today. It is incredible to be amongst over 600 t-girls and a few t-guys. And what a range of people, from the conservative "blend-ins" to the outrageous to the "truck drivers in dresses."
I have also met several people who have always just been Internet myths. Jamie Austin is the noted makeup artist and photographer who is well-known in the T community - not only is he real, but his phone number is now in my phone. And even more unbelieveable is that he will be doing MY makeup in a few hours.
I have also met Chloe Prince, founder of Pink Essence(and fellow Vanity Club member). She's not only real, but she's not much different than I (well, okay, she is prettier).
Another experience that kind of surprised me was that I went to a presentation on FFS by a noted plastic surgeon. He is doing free consultations here in the vendor area. While the cost is way out of range for me right now, just having talked to him seemed to give me a spark of new hope for my future. I can't explain the feeling any better than that. He challenged me to talk to one of the other surgeons as well, so I did. Can you imagine the high of having a handsome surgeon tell you that you don't need much?
